Vaginal Rejuvenation

3D Vjuve Vaginal Tightening and Vaginal Rejuvenation

There are many factors and life events that can impact the anatomy and health of a woman’s vagina. For example, pregnancy, childbirth, weight fluctuation, perimenopause and surgery can overstretch and damage the vaginal tissue and pelvic floor as well as alter the mucosal tone of the vaginal wall. This can lead to urinary incontinence, vaginal dryness, vaginal laxity, loss of sensation, atrophy and prolapse and many other related issues, all of which can have a significant impact on a women’s mental healthy and overall wellness.

Vaginal Rejuvenation is now one of the fastest growing cosmetic procedures in the world, providing a solution to these problems experienced, often silently, by a lot of women. The procedure aims to treat any or all of the above-mentioned concerns via a targeted CO2 fractional ablative laser. The laser is gently inserted into the vagina via a probe and is fired painlessly via 3 passes. The procedure is completed with application of the laser to the whole vulva, including the inner and outer labia and the mons pubis area. The vulva is first numbed with topic anaesthetic cream.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Vjuve laser work?

The Vjuve CO2 laser emits energy of a wavelength of 10,600 nanometres.  Water within the skin cells absorbs this type of wavelength, resulting in the fractional ablation of the superficial layer of the skin.  This produces a type of heat injury which stimulates the skin underneath, resulting in the formation of collagen fibres and elastin.  This in turn significantly tightens the vaginal walls, urethral muscle, bladder walls, vaginal vestibule (entrance to the vagina) and skin on the entire vulva/external genitalia.

What can the 3D Vjuve treat?

This advanced medically certified CO2 fractional ablative laser technology can treat the following presenting concerns:

Stress incontinence Poor bladder control Vaginal dryness and associated irritation Loss of vaginal elasticity and tightness Vaginal atrophy/mild prolapse Vulvodynia and vaginal painPainful sexual intercourse Lichen Sclerosus (chronic inflammatory skin disorder of the vulva)Reduced sensitivity during sexual intercourse Improve the overall appearance, elasticity and sensitivity of the skin in the whole vulva area, including the inner and outer labia and mons pubis.

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment generally doesn’t cause any discomfort and factors very low on the pain threshold. The vulva is numbed with a topical anaesthetic cream before the procedure begins. During the treatment, clients may experience a heat sensation which some may find slightly uncomfortable.

Are there any side effects?

You may experience warmth, redness and swelling following the treatment. Small white dots or perforations on the external genitalia may also be visible with some flaking potentially occurring over the days following treatment.

Occasionally, some may experience some bleeding or discharge post-treatment which should resolve within 24-48 hours. Some also experience a watery vaginal discharge after the treatment which may last for a couple of days.

We will carry out a patch test on the inner thigh using the laser during the consultation.

How many treatments will I need?

This will depend on your specific concerns and goals, however, typically an ideal treatment plan consists of 3 sessions, each 4 weeks apart. The results can last between 18 months to 2 years.

Is there any downtime?

There is little to no downtime with this treatment. The vagina/vulva responds very well to the laser and healing is quite swift.  However, there may be a little post treatment soreness and vaginal secretion for a couple of days afterwards and therefore wearing a pad for a few days is recommended.  However, sexual intercourse and use of tampons is restricted for 5 days post treatment.

Prior to treatment, a consultation is required to rule out any contraindications and to formulate a treatment plan based on your goals and desired outcomes.
