Frequently asked questions

How do chemical peels work?

A chemical peel is a dermo-cosmetic procedure created to cause accelerated skin regeneration in a controlled manner through the application of chemical exfoliation agents.

Each unique formula of the peel allows chemical exfoliants to work at various depths giving the aesthetics nurse practitioner the flexibility to design bespoke treatments.

The chemical peel enhances the removal of external layers of the skin to stimulate cell renewal, collagen production, elastin and glycosaminoglycans.

How many treatments will I need?

As a minimum you will need a course of 3 chemical peel treatments to see the benefits of the treatment. For best results we recommend a course of 6 treatments followed by regular manintenance treatments.

What aftercare is required?

After your skin peel, it is important not to touch, pick or scratch your skin. Do not use any creams, cleansers, perfumed products or fake tan the evening after your treatment.

Make sure you use a clean pillowcase after your treatment and on the following morning you may lightly cleanse and apply SPF. Do not use retinol, exfoliants or acids for 48 hours after. Active ingredients can be reintroduced once the skin has recovered (typically 2-5 days after).

You will need to avoid waxing/hair removal/bleaching from the treated area for 2 weeks post treatment.

Depending on downtime needed and type of exercise you may need to avoid exercise for up to 3 weeks.

Are peels suitable for all skin types?

Our peels are suitable for all skin types except reactive and sensitive skin. We cannot use peels on those under the age of 16.

We will perform a thorough skin analysis and consultation prior to treatment to be able to advise on your individual needs.

Are there any pre-treatment guidelines?

You will need to use the products advised by your practitioner for the 2 weeks before your first treatment and throughout your course period. Please speak to a member of our team about the required skin care needed to prepare your skin suitably.
